Another Farmdale Finished!

Posted: October 19, 2009

Well, another Farmdale is in the bag. What an exciting event it was! The 8 milers started us out with some fast speeds on a course that was a bit muddy in spots. There were 81 runners in the 8 mile, most locals, but had two all the way from the Czech Republic! Overall the course was in great condition, and the trees were showing some great color. The weather was, once again, incredible. It was just about as perfect as you could get for running. The ultra was exciting this year for many reasons. The race for the top five was pretty close for the first three loops, then James Roche kicked it into high gear for a finish 17 minutes ahead of Matt Condron (winner of the IL Grand Slam). Matt Condron, Jason Elliot and Joe Winch finished 2, 3, and 4 and were all within 1 minute and 24 seconds of each other. That was FUN! The ladies were cruising too. Rachel Furman, the female winner finished 5th overall! Rachel maintained a 15 minute lead over 2nd place female, Ellen Erhardt, for the entire race. Third place was reserved for Jake "Trailblazergirl" Vernon. Jake is the female winner of the IL Ultra Grand Slam! Great job Jake! We also had 12 of our 54 finishers running their first Ultra! Great job first timers. It was awesome to see some new faces this year and some of the usual suspects too! Once again we had great volunteers who worked to make Farmdale a great race. Thanks to everyone who gave up their Saturday to make this a great race. Finally-we say goodbye to Dave Tapp, RD and creator of the Farmdale Trail Run. No he finished the race and is doing fine-just goodbye from his RD'ing of the race. Thanks Dave and Cori for your hard work at putting together such a great race. Adam and I have BIG shoes to fill. Hope to see you all next year! -MIKE KLOP

Are You Registered?

Posted: October 06, 2009

There is a bit of confusion amongst the Farmdale runners as to why their name doesn't appear on the "who's registered" portion of the website.  That is simply a link to the runrace.net website.  If you did not register using that site, you will not appear on their list.  That does not mean you are not currently registered if you mailed in your registration.  A complete list of registered runners will be posted on this site soon.  Thanks for your understanding.  Soon the only thing that will matter is putting one foot in front of the other on some beautiful trails.
